Kirkmichael Session House & Open Learning Centre
Kirkmichael Session House is on the main street in Kirkmichael, opposite the Kirkmichael Hotel. A management committee operates the facilities with representatives from the local church, user groups, and ‘Friends of the Session House’ who support the facility through membership fees and in voluntary work.
There is a small office area, toilet, kitchen and room to hold events upstairs. The downstairs room is ideally suited for activities such as craft sessions, larger meetings, parties etc. with an accessible toilet adjacent. Also downstairs we have the Bookswap situated in the entrance hall, which is open whenever the Session House is in use.
Funding received from Direct Grants in summer 2004 and from Leader+ in 2005 has allowed us to carry out a survey and employ a part-time development worker to extend and support the use of the facilities. The management committee should like to express our thanks to the ‘Friends of the Session House’ for their support. We hope that as the Session House becomes more widely used by members of the community, that the circle of Friends will become larger, helping to build on the community spirit that is so strong in Strathardle and the Glens. We look forward to the further development of the facilities of the Session House and to expanding on the community involvement.
